Getting to Blackall and Tambo

You haven’t truly experienced the Outback until you’ve discovered the heart and heritage of the Blackall-Tambo Region. Whether you're arriving by road, rail, or air, your journey into this iconic part of Outback Queensland will be one to remember.

By Road

Getting here is easier than you might think. With fully sealed Matilda Way and Landsborough Highway connecting Blackall and Tambo to major regional centres, you won’t need a 4WD to enjoy the journey. However, if you're equipped for off-road travel, you’ll have the opportunity to explore some of our more remote, scenic spots along the way.

By Air

QantasLink services the region with flights into Blackall three times a week via a loop, Brisbane-Blackall-Longreach-Brisbane. Alternatively, daily QantasLink flights operate from Brisbane to Longreach, where you’ll find car hire options with Avis and Budget—perfect for continuing your journey to Blackall or Tambo by road.
